Faaker See – spomini /memories

Last year we went on a weekend trip in Austria. Their Faaker See is near and very beautiful. We didn’t have time to wright a blog so this is just some memories in photos. I won’t forget breathtaking views, The barefoot road in forest, private beaches with no access for tourists, nice forests and the lack of time to visit and climbing all the mountains around the lake. You can see few photos bellow – it can be a great family getaway, there is plenty things to do with children – from Monkey mountain (affenberg) to barefoot road in the forest (the red line of the road is a fairy tale about a dragon) etc. Enjoy!😉

Tokrat smo obiskali samo bližnje lokacije – Kamnik, Arburetum Volčji potok in Gradiško jezero. Komaj čakamo nove dogodivščine in pripenjamo dva mala utrinka. Pozdravček!😊

Short hike in Slovenia – Sv. Jošt nad Kranjem

We have a lot of small hills in Slovenia, just right for the afternoon hike – around hour or so. I had already written about “Sv. Primoz nad Kamnikom” and “Stari grad nad Kamnikom,” and now I am adding some photos of “Jošt nad Kranjem”.

The hill is 847 m high, on the top you can find a church build in baroque style. We started walking in a village called “Pševo.”  The path to the top is called “Sodarjeva pot/path.”

The trip is appropriate for families and small kids too. Very nice path and wievs!

Vintgar (near Bled, sLOVEnia)

After work we take a short trip to Vintgar … It was a great place to relax, to enjoy the beauty of nature … HERE is the official site. Vintgar is very close to lake Bled wich is one of top 10 tourist attractions in Slovenia, so Vintgar is not so crowdy, because not a lot of tourists know about it. The temperature is great for summer days.

Malta in May – day 7 (Ghajn Tuffieha bay)

Last day – time for some rest after all the hikes and wandering around. First, we visited the Golden bay.

Than we went for a short walk to Ghajn Tuffieha bay – we spent the time swimming, playing cards & reading a good book. 🙂 In the evening we went to say good-bye to our Malta scout friend – Gail. — Thank you so much for everything… I think you can never feel the culture if you don’t talk and bond to a native. 🙂

Malta in May – day 4 (Comino)

There are 3 different islands in “Malta”: Malta, Gozo and Comino – the last one is the smallest with only a few residents. It has an amazing beach called Blue lagoon and some amazing cliffs. We went for a hike around the island (3 hours) and here are the photos. 🙂

Blue lagoon ❤

You can get to the island with small boats – we gave 10 € per person (both ways). 🙂

Cliffs, caves, beaches … 🙂

Land…

& some facts … 🙂

Comino

Situated between Malta and Gozo, the smaller island of Comino is a paradise for snorkelers, divers, windsurfers and ramblers.

Only 3.5 square kilometers, Comino is car-free and apart from one hotel, is virtually uninhabited.

The island’s main attraction is the Blue Lagoon. In summer, this sheltered inlet of shimmering aquamarine water over white sand is very popular with day-trippers. Other beaches on the island include Santa Marija Bay and San Niklaw Bay.

Comino is also worth a visit in winter, and is ideal for walkers and photographers. With no urban areas or cars on the island, one can easily smell the scent of wild thyme and other herbs.

Comino was inhabited in the Roman period, but did not have much significance until the Knights arrived. It then had a dual role: hunting grounds and a staging post in the defence of the Maltese Islands against the Ottoman Turks.

The island had proved a useful base for pirates operating in the central Mediterranean and, though stark and barren today, it was home to wild boar and hares when the Knights arrived in 1530. The Grandmasters went to great lengths to ensure that their game on Comino was protected: anyone found breaking the embargo on hunting could expect to serve three years rowing on a galley.

After WWII, Comino remained a backwater until its fortunes revived with tourism in the mid-1960s.

Where to Stay

Comino has one resort hotel, which is ideal for those looking for a tranquil getaway.

Spring walk on a cloudy day (Slovenia – Podpeško lake/jezero)

Sunday is perfect day to get some fresh air outside. Today, we went to Podpesko lake under the mountain Krim. We were here for the first time, even it’s just half an hour drive from our home. 🙂 The view is nice.

There are also a lot of spring flowers. Probably it’s amazing here in the sunshine. Definetly we will go to mountain Krim one day. 🙂 It was one nice afternoon. 🙂
